In a recent Housing Community Summit podcast, 3C CEO Colin Sales joins Paul McGrady, CFO of Magenta Living, and host Amanda Leonard to discuss AI, data quality and data governance in social housing. Here are some of the themes that stood out. ### Better insight depends on better data Quick wins, such as AI-generated summaries of tenant calls, are available now. The bigger prize is insight: using AI to spot the households who need support most, before problems escalate.  That kind of proactive service depends entirely on the information underneath. *"The AI is only going to be as good as the information it has access to,"* Colin explains. This matters more as the regulator looks closely at how housing providers make decisions. Boards need to know their decisions will stand up to scrutiny and organisations relying on insight built on poor information risk being caught out.   ### Using fast returns to drive momentum For organisations looking for a clear first business case in investing in data management, Colin points to Subject Access Requests (SARs). These are requests from individuals to see the personal data an organisation holds about them. A rising number of SARs, possibly linked to increasing use of AI to submit them, is putting higher demands on housing providers.  With good data management and automation, the relevant information can be brought together in seconds rather than days.
